The European Union initiatives End of Life Vehicles (ELV) directive and the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electric and electronic equipment (RoHS) directive both ban the use of Hexavalent Chromates. Although, Hexavalent processes have been used for electroplating for over 65 years, they have environmental issues associated with them. Trivalent coatings were developed to reduce the amount of Hexavalent chromate in the environment without sacrificing corrosion resistance. Cadillac Plating Corporation offers Trivalent Chromates with three (3) color choices and in Zinc or Zinc-Iron baths.
